From 2 to 4 September 2025, ECC Berlin hosted the Railway Forum, and our CEO Rok Jeler was among the speakers.
We were proud to contribute to the discussion on automation in rail freight at the Railway Forum in Berlin.
On the innovation stage, Rok Jeler (REALTRONIK) and Frank Steinmetz (Schaeffler) presented ITRS — Innovative Technology for Railway Systems — and the automation it brings to freight wagons.
From concept to use cases
The session walked through the system on a real wagon: Cloud Bridge for LTE/5G connectivity, Real Control with a custom HMI, the self-charging axle generator and the APS autonomous power supply.
The use cases are concrete: automatic opening and closing, GPS, lights and horns, and sensors for temperature, humidity, shock and vibration.
The future is within reach
The examples made it clear: the future of rail freight is already within reach — and its potential is far from exhausted.
